Edcarlos Santos

Edcarlos Santos has been a developer since 2015, works in SEO and game dev, and grew up in his father’s LAN house playing Ragnarok Online. He built XPNotes to turn his own life into an RPG and finally put his plans into action.

From the LAN house to XPNotes

Around 2008, my father opened Bichinho Virtual, a neighborhood LAN house in Brazil. I spent whole days there, playing Ragnarok Online on the LAN house’s own server. To this day, the sound of my Assassin’s critical hit sounds like classical music to me. Then came World of Warcraft, where my favorite classes are Druid and Paladin. MMORPGs never stopped being my genre.

I’ve been a developer since 2015, working in SEO and game dev. I also draw pixel art: Diamond, a free pack for people making 2D RPGs, has more than 700 animation frames.

Why XPNotes exists

Planning was always easy for me. Doing was the hard part, with so much fighting for my attention all day long: social media, notifications, games that never end. So I built XPNotes, an app that turns my life into an RPG. Every task I finish becomes XP, and my goals become the main campaign.

I like things done the right way, and I still often dream that I have powers.

How I write the blog

Posts on the blog are written with AI assistance and go through my review before they go live. Every claim about the app is checked in the app itself, the screenshots are real and the studies we cite link to their source.
